Preventing Kennel cough at dog daycare centers

Kennel Cough is on the rise in West Michigan.

With more than twice as many reports as last year at one animal medical center, kennel cough has become something to worry about at dog daycare centers. You know your dog was vaccinated for kennel cough, but now he’s showing symptoms that look suspiciously like that very infection. Is that possible? In fact, it is possible for your dog to show signs of kennel cough — to even get the illness — despite the vaccination.

Aqueous Ozone Cleaning and Sanitizing

Aqueous OzoneLiquid Ozone

As a chemical-free cleaner and sanitizer, aqueous Ozone, or as it is sometimes called, liquid Ozone, is the new way to clean and sanitize. Liquid Ozone is a broad range anti-microbial agent that works faster and more effectively than chlorine bleaches against pathogens, and does not produce fumes and toxic residues like dioxins and tri-chloramines. Because of its toxin free sanitizing action, aqueous ozone is considered safe as a direct and indirect food additive by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) under its Organic Program. This Naturally occurring substance is one of the strongest oxidizing agents known, second only to fluorine in its speed and effectiveness.
The Xytoblast liquid ozone system is the new way to clean and sanitize. It is a non-chemical sanitizing system that can eliminate e coli, salmonella, and other bacteria from your facility. Our innovative system is FDA approved for food service areas, but versatile enough to treat nearly any cleaning and sanitizing problem. Our systems destroys the biofilm, pierces the outer membrane of bacteria, virus, and fungi; producing a remarkable level of sanitizing.

The Xytoblast liquid ozone system converts normal water into an oxygen-rich solution. As you might already know, oxygen is a fantastic oxidizer that will eat away almost any pollution or contaminant. The process is faster than chlorine products like bleach. While the EPA recommends 8-10 minutes of Dwell Time for cleaning products like bleach, our system kills pathogens 300 times better and 3000 times faster than bleach. Kill the worst pathogens in just 10 seconds, not 8-10 minutes required by the sanitizers you now use.
If you are interested in our Xytoblast liquid ozone system, give us a call. We would be glad to talk with you and give you a demonstration on how well this system works.

Indoor Playground Cleaning and Sanitizing

Playground Cleaning and Sanitizing

Playground cleaning and sanitizing

Your playground is like a magnet to kids eager for fun. And it gives parents hungry for relaxation a time to unwind.

Unfortunately, it is also a harbor for microorganisms, including those that contribute to foodborne illness. On the playground, bacteria, fungi, and viruses pass from the kids hands to play equipment, to other hands, onto food and into mouths.

With children acting as they do—eating, playing, eating and playing some more—ensuring that playground equipment is properly cleaned and sanitized or disinfected is a critical component in providing a safe and inviting experience for both the children and adults. Taking steps to encourage customer hand hygiene before and after playground use will also help keep children and parents healthy.

“Effective playground cleanliness requires cleaning, rinsing, and sanitizing or disinfecting equipment surfaces,” says Gina McDowell, Food Safety Technical Consultant at Ecolab.

Cleaning of the playground equipment removes the visible dirt and other residues from surfaces and reduces the total microorganism count.

Sanitizing helps reduce the count of a variety of potentially harmful microorganisms. Disinfecting provides an extra layer of protection by totally eliminating them, including hard-to-kill viruses. But with any sanitizing program, as soon as a surface is contacted by a germ or virus it has been compromised. That is why we apply an Antimicrobial surface treatment that will ensure that the surfaces, both porous and non-porous are protected against the introduction of germs and viruses.

By employing Ozonated water to clean with, not only is the equipment cleaned and sanitized, but no harmful chemicals are left behind. Nothing but water and oxygen.

Many cleaning products and procedures being used to clean playground equipment use bleach as the main ingredient for their sanitizing steps. There are many dangers to using bleach on playground equipment that children climb all over.

Residue left over from chlorine bleach may cause:

  • Ingestion of bleach causes corrosive damage to the tissues of the gastrointestinal tract.
  • It increases asthma and allergy symptoms because of the likelihood of inhalation. It can also cause wheezing, bronchospasm and sometimes noncardiogenic pulmonary edema (a lung condition that prevents enough oxygen from entering the blood).

EcoVive offers a safe, eco-friendly way to keeping playground equipment safe, and sanitized that is both good for our children and our environment.
