Mold Inspection services in Grand Rapids

Mold Inspection-Grand Rapids

Mold Testing

Do you need a Mold Inspection? The first thing to understand about mold is that there is a little mold everywhere – indoors and outdoors. It’s in the air and can be found on plants, foods, dry leaves, and other organic materials.

It’s very common to find molds in homes and buildings. After all, molds grow naturally indoors and outdoors. Mold spores can enter the home through doorways, windows, and heating and air conditioning systems. Spores also enter the home on animals, clothing, shoes, bags and people.

When mold spores drop where there is excessive moisture in your home, they will grow. Common problem sites include humidifiers, leaky roofs and pipes, overflowing sinks, bath tubs and plant pots, steam from cooking, bathroom exhaust fans vented improperly, or where there has been flooding.

Many of the building materials for homes provide suitable nutrients for mold, helping it to grow. Such materials include paper and paper products, cardboard, ceiling tiles, wood and wood products, dust, paints, wallpaper, insulation materials, drywall, carpet, fabric, and upholstery.

The Importance of Mold in the Real Estate Market Today

For homeowners, a mold inspection will either put your mind at rest or make you aware of any problems that could cause delays or deal breakers in the sale of your home. A professional mold inspection by EcoVive will give you a signed report before you put the home up for sale. Imagine being able to show a “clean bill of health” to potential buyers that express concerns – they’ll be impressed by your thoroughness and commitment to your home.

For buyers, getting a mold inspection will ensure that you’re not surprised by costly clean up and the potential health hazards of mold. If any mold is found to be present and active in the home, the mold inspection will allow you to ask the seller to do the clean up prior to buying the home

Can My Home Be Tested For Mold?

Yes. We offer thorough mold inspections that involve visual examinations of the most likely areas to harbor mold. We also take air samples indoors and out to determine whether the number of spores inside your home is significantly higher. If the indoor level is higher, it could mean that mold is growing inside your home.

It only takes a small water leak, or even excess humidity, for mold to form in your Grand Rapids home or business. Then, mold can spread quickly through the property in as little as 48 hours. Mold can produce allergens and irritants, and it has the potential to cause other health effects. If you suspect your home or business has a mold problem, call EcoVive today for a Mold Inspection. 616-401-9176

Disinfection services Schools and offices.

Disinfection Services

EcoVive Disinfection services understands that an outbreak of disease can occur in a variety of environments, including schools, daycare centers, offices, gyms and other places of work.  Anytime people come together in close quarters or large groups there is an increased risk of catching a virus. Typically, the viruses that are passed around between people are minor. For example, the common cold or flu bug that seems to spread around an office once or twice a year. However, when more serious diseases contaminate a location, you may need professional help to fully disinfect the property. That’s where EcoVive can help.

Bacterial infections, once confined to hospitals, are becoming a problem of epidemic proportions in the public sector today. Disinfectants which have traditionally maintained safety are increasingly ineffective as the organisms have developed a tolerance to their toxic effects. Our disinfection service guarantees that micro-organisms cannot develop a resistance. The technology in the green product we use is combined with a surfactant package to create a powerful cleaning and disinfecting agent proven to destroy infection causing organisms and reduce infection rates.

EcoVive has the experience and resources required to alleviate serious diseases like bird flu, HTV, HIV, H1N1, MRSA, and other pandemic outbreaks. Thanks to a breakthrough in environmental science technology, we are able to offer a green cleaner that has the power of an industrial strength disinfectant without the harmful effects.

Locations We Provide Disinfection Services

Public Schools: Schools are the ideal environment for diseases to spread. With so many students coming from a variety of homes makes for a nearly limitless opportunities for exposure.

Liquid Ozone Cleaning systems-Grand Rapids

XytoBlast Liquid Ozone can solve many of today’s cleaning challenges by harnessing the power of nature and without introducing harsh chemical formulations into the environment.

A top priority in today’s health conscious population is using safe cleaning solutions for everyday needs. As a society, we are moving away from harsh chemical cleaners and are looking at greener, healthier and more ecological friendly ways to clean and eliminate germs faster and more effectively. Phasing out harsh chemical cleaners can begin with by looking at a natural, safe cleaning solution that can be used in their place.

Using Liquid ozone instead of harsh chemical cleaners can help us reduce the use of dangerous chemicals and all the side effects that are being discovered because of the chemicals being used today.

Liquid ozone is more sustainable and safer than chemical cleaning agents because, once used, liquid ozone reverts to water and oxygen molecules, leaving only a bucket of dirty water to be poured down the drain. No dangerous chemicals being introduced into the eco-system. And unlike chemical agents, liquid ozone does not leave a residue on cleaned surfaces. Liquid Ozone has been given the designation of GRAS by the FDA  (generally recognized as safe) by the Food and Drug Administration. Other researchers are quick to point out that it can kill E. coli, salmonella, MRSA, C-Difficile and 99% of odor-causing bacteria as well.

What is “Liquid Ozone”.

Liquid ozone is a water-based ozone cleaner, which makes it a unique alternative.

The XytoBlast liquid ozone generating units create this cleaning solution by filtering oxygen molecules from the air, passing them through an electrical field that turns it into ozone and then infuses the ozone into water. When used as directed, liquid ozone eliminates germs, odors, stains, mold, mildew and other contaminants on any item or surface before changing safely back into water and oxygen. It is environmentally more effective than many alternatives, as it reverts to water and oxygen after cleaning.

This option can be used on all types of surfaces and is considered a multi-purpose cleaner.  Liquid Ozone is a highly effective cleaning agent that breaks down dirt, grease and other contaminants in the same way as toxic cleaners, but naturally. When used as a cleaning solution, liquid ozone is a broad range antimicrobial agent that works faster and more effectively against pathogens than chlorine bleach and hydrogen peroxide — and without fumes and toxic residues like dioxins and tri-chloramines.

Because of its toxin-free sanitizing action, liquid ozone is considered safe and environmentally friendly. Ozone is one of the most powerful cleaners available that can be used in a multitude of ways and in numerous industries.

Ozone is an extremely effective, safe and economical method of reducing common bacteria, fungi, molds, mildew and viruses on a host of surfaces in all types of facilities. Ozone’s powerful oxidizing action quickly reduces trapped chemical residues as well as harmful byproducts.

Some of the benefits of using XytoBlast Liquid ozone to clean and disinfect include:

  • Powerful Antimicrobial properties
  • No chemical residue
  • Scent-free cleaning
  • No need to purchase harmful and expensive chemicals
  • Reduces chemical handling and storage
  • One-time training for staff
  • Safer cleaning option for employees
  • Cost effective.

Liquid Ozone And Our Environment

In addition to being extremely powerful as a cleaning agent, Liquid ozone is a safe and natural solution for everyday cleaning needs.

Many of today’s commercial cleaners are extremely powerful, but are also very toxic and not environmentally friendly. Today, most companies are looking to incorporate sustainability and good environmental stewardship into their work environment and their community. By switching from harsh chemical cleaners to a more natural and safe cleaning solution, they will be one step closer to achieving the highest standards for both their employees and their surroundings.

Harness the power of nature with a XytoBlast Liquid Ozone cleaning system.

Mold Inspection-Grand Rapids

Mold Testing

Ten Things You Should Know About Mold (www.epa.gov/mold)

  • Potential health effects and symptoms associated with mold exposures include allergic reactions, asthma, and other respiratory complaints.

  • There is no practical way to eliminate all mold and mold spores in the indoor environment; the way to control indoor mold growth is to control moisture.

  • If mold is a problem in your home or school, you must clean up the mold and eliminate sources of moisture.

  • Fix the source of the water problem or leak to prevent mold growth.

  • Reduce indoor humidity (to 30-60%) to decrease potential growth by: venting bathrooms, dryers, and other moisture-generating sources to the outside; using air conditioners and de-humidifiers; increasing ventilation; and using exhaust fans whenever cooking, dishwashing, and cleaning.

  • Clean and dry any damp or wet building materials and furnishings within 24-48 hours to prevent growth.

  • Clean mold off hard surfaces with water and detergent, and dry completely. Absorbent materials such as ceiling tiles, that are moldy, may need to be replaced.

  • Prevent condensation: Reduce the potential for condensation on cold surfaces (i.e., windows, piping, exterior walls, roof, or floors) by adding insulation.

  • In areas where there is a constant moisture problem, do not install carpeting (i.e., by drinking fountains, by classroom sinks, or on concrete floors with leaks or frequent condensation).

  • Molds can be found almost anywhere; they can grow on virtually any substance, providing moisture is present. There are molds that can grow on wood, paper, carpet, and foods.

Animal Sanitation Services West Michigan

EcoVive

Animal Sanitation Services

Maintaining good environmental conditions for animal holding and housing facilities is often a difficult issue to overcome. In most facilities, there is a continuous animal turnover thus resulting in a condition known as disease build-up. Trying to maintain an infection free animal shelter can be nearly impossible considering the dirt and feces that can be present throughout the facility. And trying to accomplish animal sanitation services with employees that are already very busy taking care of the animals, becomes something that is done in a hurry.   It has been well documented that treatment rooms and kennel areas have high levels of viruses and bacteria. In fact, canine infectious tracheobronchitis (also referred to as kennel cough) is one of the most prevalent infectious diseases in dogs. Kennel cough is most commonly associated with a bacterial infection caused by the organism Bordetella bronchiseptica.

EcoVive of Grand Rapids offers a treatment program that will significantly reduce the viral and bacterial infections spreading throughout kennels, play rooms, grooming rooms and waiting rooms, solving a major problem boarding, breeding and veterinary hospital facilities face.

With the use of Ozone in both gaseous and liquid form as Ozonated water, we are able to not only eliminate viruses and bacteria from the facility, we can wash down all hard surface areas to remove any urine stains, smells and any mold, mildew or bacteria present.  Additionally, our treatment program will eliminate unpleasant odors, improving the quality of air for those who work with pets, as well as creating clean, fresh, healthy air to greet your clients when they enter your business.

Disease causing bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasite eggs accumulate in these types of environments and can become immune to improperly applied disinfectants, thus making transmission of disease easier to the animals being housed.

EcoVive uses Ozone Technology that has proven to be a valuable disinfection tool. Ozone is an effective broad spectrum antimicrobial. Ozone is more effective than chlorine and byproducts and can deactivate chlorine-resistant pathogens.

Providing a safer, and more effective Animal Sanitation Service for all animal daycare, boarding houses, and vet clinics throughout wet Michigan.

Antimicrobial coating protection against germs and viruses

Antimicrobial coating helps protect against germs and viruses

Are you worried about all the viruses and germs that seem to be showing up lately? Being proactive instead of reactive to these viral threats can help keep you or a family member from becoming seriously ill.

Germs spread by Direct Contact with people, Indirect Contact with shared surfaces, or by coughs and sneezes. Interrupting these pathways to infection and promoting a healthier environment is what EcoVive of West Michigan offers.

Germ and virus protection

Cleaning is not sanitizing. The EPA points out that sanitizers must be on the surface for 2-10 minutes to kills common bacteria and virus. Cleaning programs do not allow for proper sanitizing practices. Plus, consider the real cost of manpower and toxic chemicals to sanitize a building. EcoVive offers an Antimicrobial surface treatment that can be applied to all surfaces, walls, and materials in far less time, with greater results.

The spread of dangerous bacteria and viruses is inhibited by the protective coating. We are pleased to demonstrate and provide estimates for the year-round antimicrobial treatment. This is not a spray sanitizer. It is a treatment that stays on the surface working 24/7 to inhibit bacteria, germs, odors, allergens, mildew, and even mold. It works like an air purifying system that attracts microbial threats with a biostatic charge, and then pierces the microbes as they land.

This Micro-biostatic Antimicrobial Coating forms a nano bed of spikes on surfaces that disrupt the microorganism’s membrane. This will cause the microbe to lose energy and quickly die. This new technology provides a perfect approach to inhibiting microorganisms without the use of unsafe heavy metals or poisons. This mode of action is entirely unique to other  antimicrobial sprays.

The molecule in the Antimicrobial coating is made up of several sections. One end of the molecule forms a strong bond to the surface that it is applied onto or into. The surface can be either porous or non-porous. The other end of the molecule forms a microscopic bed of nails that stand straight up from the surface. This nano bed of nails disrupts the microbe’s membrane resulting in its demise. All of this takes place without the use of heavy metals, poisons, or chemicals.

Because this Antimicrobial Coating mechanically disrupts the membrane of microbes, no antimicrobial resistant “superbugs” are ever created from the treatment.

Cigarette odor removal from cars Grand Rapids

Vehicle Odor Removal

Cigarette odor removal from cars.

One of the worst things to smell in a car is the cigarette odor. Most people would never purchase a vehicle that smelled of cigarettes. But many times car dealerships will cover up the smell enough that it is not noticeable when the car is for sale. But give that car a couple of weeks and the smell will return.

Regular methods of cleaning and deodorizing a vehicle are not always enough. Cigarette odors are particularly difficult to remove because smelly chemical compounds can penetrate deep into the upholstery and padding. An ozone shock treatment will send pure ozone (O3) deep into every crevice, destroying these odorous compounds that could not be washed away.

The same as with any ozone treatment, always start here: clean up the source of the smell! If you are dealing with cigarette odors, assess the problem and clean the affected areas with a quality automotive cleaner. It will help in the elimination of the odor if the interior has been completely cleaned. Wipe down all surfaces, seats, dashboard, headliner and carpet. This will remove the film that is left behind by the smoke, but will not get rid of the odor.

Before you spend money on all kinds of chemical treatments, or cover-up scents trying to perform a cigarette odor removal on your own, call EcoVive, we will remove the stink, and most likely save you money in the long run.

Surface Protectant Program- Grand Rapids

EcoVive Sanitizing

Surface Protectant Program

There’s more to clean surfaces than meet the eye. Virtually any public area represents a potential breeding ground for microorganisms. Good hygiene and cleaning practices are well recognized as important elements for preventing the spread of these microorganisms. But this is not enough. Even having high touch point surfaces sanitized has failure points. EcoVive offers a Surface Protectant Program that will give another layer of protection.

The first is during application.  The EPA has shown that sanitizers need to be on the surface for up to ten minutes to kill all types of pathogenic threats.  This never happens, so the true sanitizing by cleaning crews and staff are not nearly as effective as advertised.

The second issue of concern is even more important.  The sanitizing process can be compromised minutes or hours after it has been done.  The best efforts of the most diligent cleaning program solve the infectious threat existing prior to the sanitizing process.  These efforts are nearly useless as new bacteria and germs are introduced with daily activity. High touch point areas in an office, school or daycare are easily infected with microorganisms after they have been sanitized.  They are touched by many people in a day’s time, and provide the perfect transmission point for pink eye, colds, flu, and more.

EcoVive uses BioZone Protectant, which  is an antimicrobial surface treatment. This is not the same process as found in most sanitizing processes.  Any surface treated with BioZone Protectant is converted into a microscopic killing zone that works for days, weeks, and months after application.

BioZone Protectant is odorless, works on all types of surfaces and lasts for months. With the increase in drug resistant bacteria and germs on the rise, protecting yourself, your employees or your patrons should be of concern.  EcoVive offers a layer of protection above and beyond what your cleaning company offers.

Indoor Air Quality-Grand Rapids

Indoor Air Quality

Indoor Air Quality Grand Rapids

Your family’s health begins at home. Most people consider protecting their health by focusing on diet, exercise and regular medical exams. Too often, we overlook another key factor in good health – having good indoor air quality in the home.

According to a survey conducted by the American Lung Association, 85 percent of Americans don’t realize that the air in their homes may be a health hazard. But, in fact, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has consistently ranked indoor air pollution among the top five environmental risks to public health. It estimates that indoor air levels may be two to five times more polluted, and occasionally, 100 times more polluted, than outdoor air. These levels of indoor pollutants are of particular concern, because it is estimated that most people spend as much as 90 percent of their time indoors.

The American Lung Association reports that indoor air quality can cause or contribute to the development of chronic respiratory diseases such as asthma. In addition, it can cause headaches, dry eyes, nasal congestion, nausea and fatigue. People who already have respiratory diseases are at greater risk.

For many years people have been led to believe that cleaning with chemicals, with bleach being the number one recommended chemical,  was the best way to improve their indoor air quality. with the advancement in Ozone technology and training, Ozone is a better choice for improving indoor air quality.

Ozone kills microorganisms on contact by cellularlysis and cytoplasm dispersion- it directly ruptures the cell walls of the microorganisms, which results in an instantaneous death. By comparison, bleach kills bacteria by diffusing through the cell wall and then oxidizing the enzymes within the cell. In contrast to bleach, ozone disinfection does not produce any harmful residues and is considered as an environmentally friendly disinfectant. This makes it ideal for use in medical applications, for example in hospitals or doctors waiting rooms. The main advantage of ozone compared to other treatment methods for air disinfection is that it is able to efficiently disinfect a large air volume. In contrast to UV radiation and HEPA filter, ozone is a gas that could penetrate to every corners of the room, thus it could disinfect the entire room effectively. Given the advantages of strong oxidizing power, good penetration capacity and no harmful residues left after the treatment, ozone may be recommended to be used in disinfection of contaminated environments. As of June 2001, ozone has gained FDA approval as a sanitizer not only for food contact surfaces but also for direct application on food.
